Social Media Ban for Possible Knife Crime Suspects
Knife possession in the U.K has rose to a third in five years, this has lead to this possible change. Knife Crime Prevention Orders have imposed sanctions including the ban on social media for anyone found with a knife in public or suspected to be apart of a knife crime. If any person aged 12 or over found with a knife or apart of a knife crime will have this social media ban. This social media ban would stop suspects from encouraging feuds between people, this may stop a lot of knife related crimes.
If a court believes that the police are right, the sanctions for the suspect would be:
- Curfews to stop the suspect off the street and out of areas with gangs.
- The suspect must attend a special knife awareness course to maybe change their mind.
- No more social media
- Banning the suspect from seeing any gang member for up to two years.
If the suspect/criminal fails to do what is told by the court it's a criminal offence and the punishment for this is to serve two years in prison.
