Mojo Exam Case Study


Mojo has used media language to attract their target audience by using a masculine and monochrome colour pallet with black, white, gold & red colours. These colours connote more serious, older audience. The colours of black and white also would give an nostalgic feel to the magazine since the target audience is from 35-70 year old men. The red and gold are more rich colours which attracts the more upper class who read the magazine.
The main image of this magazine is of the band Fleetwood Mac with a black and white filter. Underneath the main image is a reflection of the band in their earlier days looking upwards to their older selves. The low angle shot connotes the band as god like. The reflection makes the reader feel nostalgic and makes them remember what they were like younger listening to the band.
The free giveaway CD of the magazine is a gold square cover. The bright gold colour connote wealth and money and this attracts the target audience who are mostly from the upper class for the magazine is of high brand.
The colour pallet of the magazine is a very simple monochrome (black and white) pallet. The colours connote a very serious tone for the older men who would be reading this. The black and white colours have a very older feel to it making people feel nostalgia for the old readers of Mojo.
The cover line 'The 50 greatest songs of Fleetwood Mac' connotes the band has had a very successful career with 50 being a large amount of very successful songs and a lot of songs that were good and enjoyed by most. It connotes a very iconic and legendary run of their career.
