- What happens in the beginning, middle and end of the story?
- At the beginning of the film its a wedding between Uma & Son it then flashes back 2 months earlier to where Uma awakens in a place she doesn’t know and is told its ‘Paradise’ Its a treatment centre for women who have disobeyed their parents. Uma is there because she refused to marry Son. In the middle of the film Uma and her friends try to escape when they find out that Paradise’s secret is that all the therapy they go through was to make these replicates of them who will behave the way the parents want them to, when they get into a garden the find the Duchess who plans to kill the real women so theres no suspicion when the replicas leave, Uma is the only one to escape with help from her replica Ana. In the end Ana and Uma have a plan, so Ana marries Son takes him upstairs and kills him she screams and pretends she ran into him dead and runs outside on the balcony where we see Uma who runs off into the darkness away from her family.
-What are the most important things that happen in the story?
- The most important moment is when they discover the sinister side of the island, that was seen to be ‘paradise’
-How do we know where the story takes place?
- All that the viewer is told is that its an island in the middle of the ocean and in the beginning scene where Uma is told its paradise.
-Who or what is the story about?
- The story is mainly focused on Uma and the things that went on in her life (like her dads death and bankruptcy) and the pressure she has on her to marry a rich man just so her family can be rich again.
- How long does the story take in ‘real time’
- It takes place for about a month
- What do you think happened before the story began?
- I think the family life would’ve been good, they were rich and all were happy until the bankruptcy which lead to the suicide of Uma’s father.
- What might happen next?
- I think Uma would escape and live a normal life with someone she loves and Ana would live the more rich life she always wanted, Sons death would probably be seen as a murder but no one would suspect Uma/Ana because they are ‘reformed’.
- How does this story remind you of other stories?
- It reminds me of a few fairytales with all the aesthetics and the outfits and hairs etc but with more of a dark side and more of a powerful female lead/roles.
- How would you like the story to continue?
- I would like to see the island shut down and both Ana & Uma living better a life.
