Music Video Question

Explain one way in which music videos use media language to differ from each other. Refer to one example of contrasting media language in two music videos you have studied to support your answer. Music videos such as Avril Lavignes 'Sk8ter Boi' and Wheatus's 'Teenage Dirtbag' use media language to differ from each other with the use of mise-en-scene and camera work. Sk8ter Boi is a pop punk song, this is clearly shown within the music video. In 'Sk8ter Boi' the mise-en-scene is used throughout the video, Avril Lavigne wears a typical skater outfit consisting off jeans, bracelet and a hat, this would appeal to the audiences who are into skating. Music videos are compromised of three types of image Performance clips - simple and direct Conceptual clips -  Further broken down into Narrative Artistic  In the majority of videos they are combined. Performance Clips: A performance clip is a video that shows the vocalists in one or more settings, such as the recording studio or on non-stage at a concert. Narrative Clip: A narrative clip contains a visual story that is easy to follow.  A pure narrative clip contains no lip-synchronised singing. The story is an idea, a concept, hence conceptual. The narrative usually relates to the song in someway, albeit subtle at times Artistic Clips: Music videos use artistic elements to enhance the overall piece. Some video are purely artistic since they show sequences with no obvious narrative and no singing. They can be described as artistic since they purposefully manipulate images but don't tell any sort of story. Purely artistic videos are more...
